Anastasia Sotiropulos started her path into food and hospitality at the ripe old age of six, when her grandmother sat her down and taught her how to make a proper cup of Greek coffee. Equal amounts of finely-ground coffee and sugar, stirred into boiling water until frothy, then delicately poured into a demitasse cup and served alongside a cool glass of water with a neatly folded napkin and one of her grandmother's famous powdered sugar-covered butter cookies. It was the attention to detail, the satisfaction of providing something so simple and satisfying to a guest that struck Anastasia so deeply that she found her vocation in the hospitality industry.
Taking this love of food and service and turning into a career was never the plan, but when Anastasia started a part-time job at Clementine Bakery & Cafe in Los Angeles, she realized this was her path. While studying Italian and Art History at UCLA, she worked her way up the ranks of the bakery under the mentorship of chef-owner Annie Miler. From Clementine, to the Santa Monica outpost of Maury Rubin's The City Bakery, and then to Thomas Keller's Bouchon Bakery in Rockefeller Center, Anastasia's high-end bakery, cafe and retail experience spans nearly a decade. From there, Anastasia joined the grocery industry as the Bakery Category Manager at Raley's in Northern California, overseeing 118 in-store bakeries, and then as the Bakery Coordinator for the Mid-Atlantic region of Whole Foods market.
In 2017, the culmination of Anastasia's experience resulted in the creation of Sweet + Savory Consultants, LLC. We bring the depth and breadth of our knowledge to those in the specialty food, retail and hospitality industries.
